In October, the first four-legged landscape keepers moved into the area. Meanwhile, the herd has increased to 22 animals.
The wild-horse breed originating from England is characterized by its robustness and adaptation to moor landscapes.

Robust species underline the open country character


Habitat for rare plant and animal species can be conserved through the use of adapted species such as the Harz cattle, water buffalo and Exmoor ponies.

In the summer of 2016, 4 water buffalo ladies moved into the area. Since the spring of 2017 Bulle "Detlev" is located in the Alperstedter Ried and provides for offspring. In March 2018, the first calf saw the light of day and since then enriches the small herd.

Red altitude cattle

The first Harz high-altitude cattle were released into the area in autumn 2017. It is an old and also very robust domestic animal breed. There is a bull in the herd to build up a livestock population corresponding to the area.
